Getting my daily Daniel-fix before watching tonight's season 6 episode, I watched Foothold.
Foothold is not the most exciting episode, but it is a good one. Foothold was also the first Stargate episode I ever saw. It was a confusing, because I didn't really know what the show was about, and Foothold is not the best episode to explain that, but it was good enough to make me watch again the next week.
Now, there are many reasons why I enjoyed Foothold. I like the concept. Alien invasion of the SGC? Always makes for a good plot. Also, I like episodes that have the team stay on earth, same as I like fics that show the team and their daily work on base. Not always, but they make for a nice change.
The other highlights of Foothold:

- There is Sam/Harry subtext.
Oh, yes, you can't deny it! There was definitely subtext in the last scene. Maybourne didn't even really look at her, for fear of giving something away. But Jack saw it anyway, that's why he gave Sam that confused look. No Jack, don't interfere! Stay with Daniel and be happy, dammit! And Sam smiled at Harry! Wonder what they were up to on the rest of that plane ride...

- Colin Cunningham. Every ep with CC is a good ep. Plus he got to undress Fraiser with Jack. Bet they both wished her to be Daniel!

- Wet Jack. (Need I say more?)

- Wet Daniel.

- Oh, this should have been first: Jack undressing right in front of us! (And do I imagine this, or does it seem as if RDA really thought that was a stupid scene? He looks as if he wants to jump the camera.)

-The scene with Daniel and Jack and the sunglasses. One of favourite pics of them. And Daniel just looks beautiful in the sun. I am a JackBabe, but Michael Shanks is more than just good-looking.

- The machine they use to create the image makers, or whatever they are called. That machine is so ridiculous! They have all these nice props, and then they have to use a totally silly little tent with curtains and some silver paint to explain how the aliens took over the SGC? Makes me laugh every time I see it.

- Jack calls Teal'C "animal". I am not sure if this is a good thing. I couldn't tell from the context, seeing that Teal'C never really gives a reaction, and I couldn't see the eyebrows. Maybe someone can explain if it is good?
My first thought was how Teal'C will show his animalistic side to Jack. Then I stopped thinking, because Teal'C Jack is really not my pairing.

- Sam was in Daniel's body. Alright, she wasn't really in his body, but she looked like him. So, call me a pervert, but what would you do if you were in that situation? Cause I know exactly what I would do. And Sam is only a woman after all. And she had enough time during the flight...
Maybe she and Harry, while she was looking like Daniel... Oh, no, stop it right there! Now I will have to watch a Harry-free ep to get that picture out of my head.

Apart from all that, I think there was a hidden subtext in Foothold. Those aliens know the thoughts of all the members of the SGC. And they decide they'd rather die then let themselves be captured. What does that tell you about the SGC? Or the humans in general? But that's probably just me, seeing things. Desperate need to find an intellectual excuse for my obsession with what is called a scifi-show by most people. If they only knew...
