Downloaded and watched the first episode of Queer as Folk UK this weekend.

Keep in mind that I have seen exactly one episode of either version, and my opinions are purely based on this. I'm posting just for your amusement, so that you can laugh at me later, when I fall hopelessly in love with Vince, and decide that Brian is an arrogant asshole, and really not all that good-looking, like, the nose?

For now, I'm hopelessly in love with Brian, and not so much with the UK version.
The UK version was nice. I really like Vince, very cute. Whereas Michael of the US version is just annoying. The way he smiles all the time, you'd think that he is the one taking drugs instead of Brian. So Vince is definitely a bonus for the UK version.

Brian and Stuart. Okay, we'll skip this.

Justin and Nathan. Justin is very very cute. He's got a very kissable mouth, and even though he is a bit older than Nathan, he seems a lot younger. I don't like Nathan. Nothing personal, he's just not my type. He was also a bit too cool, not like Justin, who was trembling, and blushing and insecure in a very cute virgin-like way.

And I guess that's the reason why I prefer the US version: they take all the good things of the UK version, and make them better. Okay, it's always easier to point out the mistakes of someone else afterwards, when you aren't the one who came up with the idea in the first place.

But still, it was a lot more fun to watch.

I loved the first time Brian/Stuart and Justin/Nathan are in bed together. In the Uk version, Stuart is a bit angry that Nathan came, but he doesn't really seem to care, he is more interested in his child (the one in the hospital*g*)
In the US version, Brian gets really angry at Justin, and I think that was important to show us how Justin feels.
Same with the first time scene later, and the morning after: the US version plays with the forbiddeness of the situation, even though Justin is seventeen, and I don't think that's all that young. But the fact that Brian is so predatory, that he runs into this with open eyes, fully knowing what he does, getting off on the fact that Justin is just seventeen.... oh boy!

Stuart, while he seemed to know what he was doing, doesn't seem to care all that much. Nathan is just another fuck. Brian? He revels in it, in seducing a seventeen year old. And I like it! *eg* (also, I've got that thing for Brian, I'm sure you noticed)

I absolutely loved the scene in front of the school: I think I should get myself a cute little seventeen year old boyfriend and a nice convertible, just to show off like that. Hmm, not likely, at least not anytime in the future. But I've been on the other side, and let me tell you: it's as much fun as it looks. Because all those boys making stupid comments about gays? They are just jealous, that they still haven't gotten past first base with their girlfriends.

Anyway, I think both series are fun, and I am excited to watch more episodes and change my opinion.
And I can't wait to post more about QAF. Have you noticed how many ways there are to misspell Brian? In this entry alone I had Biran, Barin, Abrin and of course Brain. This promises to be fun!

I'm off to get some icons. :-)
