Burn Notice is one of the shows that has been pimped by quite a few of you and, seeing that it has spies, sunglasses and guns, has the potential to make me happy.

I had only read a short description of the show, so I really didn't know what to expect. First, the format was different. It's filmed in a rather peculiar style - with some stop-and-go-scenes and lots of first person narrator. Definitely not what I was expecting, and I'm not quite sure what they want to achieve with this, but it's neither positive or negative for me.

Negative was that the first half of the pilot went very slow. The first scene where he gets bear up was a bit cheap and sloppy, then it crept along without really going anywhere, some chlichéd characters were introduced, among them the ex-girlfriend who seems to be a crazy frustrated little bitch and the contact/buddy who drinks and watches girls and is generally useless. Alos, Mr. Spy is being all good and helps the poor and does not shoot people often enough.

Sadly, this is where I literally fell asleep. And let me tell you, it wasn't easy to get back, but I came home from work early and there were no other shows needing my attention, so I siad, let's try the second half of the pilot.

And lookie there... The girldfirend doesn't only seem crazy, she is crazy, and there seems to be a lot more behind her pouty mouth than I gave her credit for. Contact/buddy turns out not quite so useless, because by being illoyal, he can be used himself. Nice, and definitely what he deserves. Mr Spy shoots people, crashes a car and still does good work for the poor, but I forgive him, because he does also teaches a school kid how to beat up bullies and he dos a good puppy impression - the bulldog kind of puppy, the one who looks at you with his head all tilted to look cute until he gets your finger.

My feelings after the pilot are far from instant love, but instant love rarely ever happens to me anymore (see Bones, Supernatural et al.). I'm definitely interested, though and will give a few more episodes a try. (help on how to get them faster is appreciated)
