I agree with [livejournal.com profile] castalie,

Wow.

I'm just...wow.

It's been a while since I've seen so many cheap effects supposed to make me scare on tv. Okay, there was that little squee I did when I saw CKR, but apart from that?

I mean, the plot could have been okay had they tried to make the episode into whatever the tv equivalent of a B-movie is, but I don't think that's what they were trying to do. Add to that the horrible, horiible acting od the supporting cast, and you get really bad TV.

That brother, the one who wasn't mute after all, but must have had a horrible tooth ache, judging from the way he looked. Or was that him trying to act scared?
Jensen Ackles was, well, not bad, but you can tell when he says things that he himself finds ridiculous. Which makes me laugh, but doesn't make the show any more convincing.
Sam is better, at least he seems to be taken the whole things serious. That really takes acting skills.

And I'm still convinced that the girl was in on the whole thing. I bet she has an affair with the monster guy, Beauty and the Beast like. How else would you explain the incredible bad timing with which she delivered her lines. It confused the hell out of me. There is that one scene where she shouts "We'll never outrun it." at exactly the wrong moment, and you can see Jensen Ackles go "Huh? What's wrong with you?" . I wonder if she maybe cut off one of his lines, and they didn't repeat the scene cause of budget reasons. They must have a very limited budget: the monster special effect looked like on of Windows built-in screensavers and the other special effects were, uhm, not so special. Though I doubt a special budget would help. Nothing shortof naked Jensen Ackles will keep me watching. Well, I have episode number 3 on my computer, maybe I will watch it, since it's already there.

But to be honest, and I'm sorry to say this, because I know many of you like this show: this was really bad TV. Bad, bad TV. Bad.
