I kind of wrote this while I watched, so it may be a bit confused.

First:
I loved it.
I really really loved it.

Second: Did they read Pegasus B?

Okay, now on to the actual episode.
Daniel in a suit. I am shallow, so Daniel in a suit right a the beginning put me in a good enough mood that I was willing to forgive things. Not that I had to, because the episode was close to perfect.
Catherine Langford died, which is unfortunate, but it should also leave us all with a bit of a bad conscience, because apparently we have forgotten about her. She thought of Daniel as a son, and he regularly spoke with her. He even held the sppech at her funeral.
And yet, do I see her mentioned in any of the recent fics?
Is there ever an "Jack, we can't have sex right now, I am going to Catherine for coffee and pie?"
Shame on us.
Why wasn't Jack at the funeral?

Time machine.
My first reaction was "We have a time machine?" When did that happen?
Then I remembered, it was the episode where Jack and Daniel had make-up sex in the puddle jumper. No wonder I forgot all about it.
And then Jack says "You wouldn't let me go back for the Cubs (?) game." to Daniel, and wham!
Instant tears.
Cause they didn't talk about a football game. They talked about saving Jack's son, and Daniel had to tell Jack that they couldn't go back and save him, that even if it were possible to jump back such a short time, they couldn't save him.

They keep breaking my heart and I don't think they even notice.

Teal'c is sneaky and mean. Just saying.
The whole time-travel thing is so wrong. They shouldn't be able to change things, because theoretically, it has already happened, or maybe it didn't, but then they wouldn't be there.
My head hurts.
Time-travel=wrong.
But so is blowing up suns, and it's not like that ever stopped them.

I think it's kind of scary that Jaffa uniforms haven't changed in over 5000 years. Remember Sokar? Now that guy's Jaffa had cool uniforms.
Of course, all the other Jaffa laughed about them, because of the color and the weird shoulder things, but at least you can tell that he cared. All the other Goa'uld?
No fashion sense at all.
Except for Baal, but he'd look sexy in anything.

I wonder if they made those sanddunes especially for the episode.
*imagines Peter DeLouise with a big shovel*

And here the AU starts.
AUDaniel is very very gay. Though his fashion sense is worse than the Jaffa's.
AUSam is incredibly cute.
AUJack has a fisherboat! Called Homer! Yay.
And General Hammond. *happy sigh*
I missed Gen. Hammond. Did I mention that he is in a NCIS episode? You know you want to watch it. It's the second season episode called "Chained".
//end of daily NCIS pimp//
And you'd think they'd bring more batteries for the camera, wouldn't you?

McKay! See, they did read Pegasus B. Of course they mixed it up with the whole apocathreesome theme, hoping we wouldn't notice.
Apocathreesome because SG-1 gets stuck in Egypt. Okay, technically that would make it apocafoursome, but who's counting?
And McKay/Daniel is so canon. At least in that AU it is.
Also, McKay wore a Mr. Fantastic t-shirt. I'm so easy to satisfy. *g*

Look at how cute AUSam is:
"I don't really like guns."
"How about explosives?"
*eyes shine* "Those I like a little better."
So cute.

Uh oh, AUDaniel is dead. Well, I guess they have reached the maximum amount of times they can kill the real one.

Back to ancient egypt. And here it gets tragical again. Because Daniel, our Daniel, was stuck in ancient egypt for five years, the rest of SG-1 executed.
I'd like one or two fics about that to go, please.
In the end, the world is saved, we get our end of season fishing trip just like we all (well, most of us) wanted to.
Shippers and slashers should be happy.
Good episode.

Now let's talk about the whole end of season thing. Because this was not an end of season episode.
This is the end of the show.
Oh, I know that season 9 is coming. I'm looking forward to seeing Daniel go home to a retired Jack every day.
But the everything about this episode screamed "end of show" to me.

The bad guys are all gone.
No one is dead and needs to be revived next season.
Jack finally has a chance to catch fish.
Kawalsky was there, all the references to that first Abydos trip. ("Are you sure you know the coordinates to get us back?")
Ra.
All the references to the first Stargate episode, Teal'c, peaceful explorers etc.
And let's not forget that Daniel gets the amulet from Dr. Langford back.
It seems like the circles finally closes.

I can't really imagine a world. without new Stargate eps, but if I have to (and even I know that eventually I will have to get used to the idea), this would have been a wonderful end.

Should season 9 suck (which is highly unlikely considering recent casting spoilers), I'll just pretend that this was it.

I love my show.
And just so you know: Jack and Daniel? Still married.
