So I have this folder in my emails. It is labeled "ANSWER!!!!". It
contains (duh!) unanswered comments, going back to, oh, January, I
think. Definitely not 2008, because at the end of the year I threw out
all unanswered comments and emails with the intention to never ever
let it get that far again.

Hah.

Anyway, I was going to answer these old comments, just for the fun of
it. But, since I'm never at home, I can only answer comments via
email, which

a) seriously limits my choice of icons (no choice at all is more like
it, which is why you see me use the cow so often these days), and
b) means that I cannot check if maybe I have already answered that
comment and forgot to take it out of the folder. Which is why I
usually give up very quickly on answering comments via email, and then
I'm never at home, and well, it's a vicious circle.

I was going to just throw them all out again, because frankly, who
cares about comments after such a long time in a fast-moving medium
like the internet? But I like answering comments. So, I decided that
I'm going to slowly make my way through the folder. Expect to get
answers to really really old comments from me during the next days.
Sometimes even twice. ;.)

I'm living a life of constant change
Every day means the turn of a page
Yesterdays papers are such bad news
Same thing applies to me and you

Who wants yesterday's papers
Who wants yesterday's girl
Who wants yesterday's papers
Nobody in the world

LJ told me twice</>i that [livejournal.com profile] enigel's birthday is coming
up, so for once I remembered:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] enigel!!!

May Duncan MacLeod cut your birthday cake with his sword for you, and
may the cake be surrounded by happily dancing naked (gay) men!

*hugs*

Margueritem is here, and we went out and talked to strange maleness,
no wait, male strangers! We so have a life!

Oh, and she also told me that I was on a date when I was in Paris
three years ago, only I didn't know it was a date until now. With that
much social life, it's no wonder I don' t find enough time to lj
anymore... ;-)

*smooches margueritem for being awesome and the rest of the flist, too*

[livejournal.com profile] margueritem you are the bestest! No, wait, you are the kuhlest! ;-)

Yoga for cows! THANK YOU!

I will spare you the whole "I'm 30 now, what's the meaning of life?"
essay and instead say a big THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes!

I've completely ignored lj birthdays for most of last year, but my own
birthday made me once again realise how happy it makes me to see that
someone out there whom I don't even really know cares enough to post a
birthday wish for me in their lj.

So, in this spirit:

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY to the most wonderful [livejournal.com profile] jenlev!
*smooches Jenlev*
You are truly one of the loveliest persons on earth and lj wouldn't be
the same without you! Hope you had a fantastic day!

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] surreallis!
*twirls Surrealis*
Thank you for bringing not only het, but so much Stargate and RDA love
into my life! Hope your day was filled with pretty naked people!
(maybe not literally. Unless that's what you want...)

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] mabiana!
*hugs Mabiana*
Since not only ou birthdays are close, but out homes as well, I hope
we will get to meet one day (soon) and maybe enjoy ourselves some
pretty demon hunters! Hope you had a wonderful day!

Apparently your envelope was thrown into the mailbox of the gay threesome living downstairs by mistake. I'm glad they didn't open it, they may have kept the pretty Anhänger (whatever the English word for that may be) and the hot men calendar for themselves. ;-)

Btw, I saw that there is one more SPN ep scheduled (at least I only know about one) and I will send it to you once it has aired, okay?
[livejournal.com profile] margueritem is here and we decided that we are going to meet you.
*Margueritem and Oceana make resolve faces*
So, we thought, we'd let you know.

Let us know where (D or K?)
And when.

Now we are going back to watch more Supernatural. We are already 15 minutes into the Pilot and it only took us, oh, 35 minutes or so.

Dean is pretty.
He wasn't even shown in daylight yet and he's so pretty. Oh, look, daylight.
Dean's so pretty.
My flist does not join my Stargate squee. You are all fired.
No, wait, some wonderful people joined the squee and I will squee back at their comments as soon as I can get my head into squeeing space again.

As for firing the rest of you: I did "fire" a few people, sorry. It had nothing to do with lack of squee though, only with lack of time on my side. I also set up a filter for journals I read less regularly for the first time in my life. I'm not sure if I will keep it, we'll see how it works. I figure that this way I will at least comment more in the other journals, when before I didn't comment anywhere because I could hardly keep up with my flist, so it's a win-win situation. Everyone can still see my flocked entries, no filters there. Except for the really private one, because no matter how much I love you guys, there are things I don't really want to share with 260 strangers on the internet. Only with 30 or 40 strangers. ;-)

The reason why I'm doing an early flist spring cleaning is that I will be without internet access for at least two months, possibly more. I'll post details shortly before I leave, but I wanted to give you a heads-up. Because I'm moving into a temporary place for two months, I will not have internet access at home. And I will not use my internet at work to access lj.
*is determined*
If I tell myself often enough, maybe it'll come true.

I won't be completely gone: there are still internet cafés and the occasional trip to my parents, but I will definitely not be around much. So if I don't comment anymore (and I mean even less than I comment now), don't think I'm not interested; I will be back, sometime in April. And if summer 2005 is anything to go by, working a lot brings out the crazy-mad posting and commenting me.

*glares at SG download*
Still not done! Move faster, dammit, I want my squee.
[livejournal.com profile] reedfem, thank you for the e-card! Heh, Nutcracker squirrels, so cute!

[livejournal.com profile] mabiana, thank you for the postcard! Finding christmas cards in the mail always makes me smile, so thank you!

Unknown person who is probably [livejournal.com profile] agentotter (if not, who are you?): Thank you for the two (!) cards you sent me (you are spoiling me)! Let's go on a Montana double date!

Jack, Daniel and the bear, who is probably [livejournal.com profile] agentotter too, unless you all live in Montana now: thank you so much! There really isn't anything like Jack and Daniel to make me happy, and Jack and Daniel and the bear are just perfect.

THANK YOU all so much!

I love sending cards, too, but I have this strange thing about commitment, where when I say I'll send a card, I probably won't do it. However, if some time in the near or distant future you'd like to receive a postcard from me (I'm a bit late for christmas, I know), please either email me you address (including your LJ name, so I know who you are), to oceana2602 @ gmail.com or leave it in a comment to this post. All comments are screened and will be deleted after I have written down your address. I give good postcards. At least the people who have gotten psotcards in the past have never complained. ;-)

(if you think that I have your address ([livejournal.com profile] _bettina_, [livejournal.com profile] taelonmahal etc), I probably really have it. Somewhere. It was right there, I swear. No, I'll find it, don't worry. [livejournal.com profile] enigel, I'm not really sure if I have your new address, [livejournal.com profile] ashism, I got your message, thanks. Can I still send stuff to your old address?)
*hugs [livejournal.com profile] margueritem and twirls her around*
Thank you thank you thank you!

I got presents!
The cutest little rabbit, who desperately wants to be a sheep, so I call him Shep (yes, this totally makes sense. And Shep looked very happy when I told him.)
And cookies!
*munches delicious cookies*

I'd take pictures, but I was already sent back to my desk yesterday, so the pictures will have to wait.
*snatches Shep and walks back to desk*
Oh, look at the fluffy bunny feet!
So cute!

You can now say nice things about me here.

Then add your own name and leave a link in your lj, so people can sy nice things about you.

I have never done this kind of thing before, because what if people don't want to say nice things about me or there are no nice things about me? But I'm feeling brave today. Brave and pp, which is panic procrastination. Everyone who ever had important exams probably knows what I'm talking about.

*lalala*
*procrastinates*
I wonder if I should watch another X-files ep. Or Numb3rs. Mmm, Nummmmb3rs, pretty boays all wanting Charlie. Don in protective mood.

[livejournal.com profile] enigel!!! I got the CDs, thank you so much!
*smooches*

Hah, cracktastic crackshow Cracker, all for me!

The letter somehow ended up at my neighbour's, who waited until now, Sunday evening, to come by and give it to me. But it's here now and I could probably stay up all night and watch it. Hmm.
*considers*

Okay, maybe just the ep with naked Duncan in the tub.

I think it's time I all reminded you of The Map.

If you don't have one yet, get one, so I can see where you all live.

I can see that [livejournal.com profile] katana137uk has moved to what looks like the upper-nord of Siberia since I last checked. I'm only slightly surprised by this, figuring that she is probably on the trail of one Rodney McKay.

[livejournal.com profile] _barbarella_ and [livejournal.com profile] brandsinbabe are living in the middle of the ocean, as is [livejournal.com profile] x5_536, no, wait, there's a tiny f3wc- island under her. Still no one living in Antarctica, but then, it's a secret base, so you probably wouldn't tell me anyway.

My livejournal is two years old!

Yep, two years ago I started this whole thing to lurk, and look at me now. 703 entries = an entry almost every day, 5978 received comments = an average of 8 comments per day, and 4359 posted comments = I don't reply often enough when people talk to me.
Wow.
And I wonder why I don't have time for other things.
What did I ever do before I had an lj?

Thank you for making the last to years so much fun!

Can't wait for the next two. Or more. *g*
I wasn't really going to comment in the whole frienditto thing, but as I see the world exploding around me, I feel I should take the chance as long as anyone still has me friended. Because the whole "unfriend everyone to protect yourself" thing? If you want to do it, go ahead, I'll stay here and have fun by myself.

Fandom tends to explode fast, and things usually settle down just as fast.
Let's just wait and see how long that site stays active and how fast the interest in it fades.

Do I feel threatened?
Yes and no.
Yes, because I almost 200 people have my journal friended, and the thought that some of you would archive my posts over there without my permission is rather unsettling. No, I don't think any of you would do that, but, see, 200 people? Do the math you can figure out how "well" I actually know most of you.

If I friendslock posts I usually do it so RL life people can't recognize me. No, no one in my RL knows that I have an LJ, but it would be easy enough to figure out for the few who know that I'm involved in fandom. It wouldn't kill me if they did, but it's definitely a place I don't want to go. So yes, it would be uncomfortable for me if someone archived my flocked posts over there.

No, because really, what are the chances that someone who suspects that I have an lj, manages to find out somehow which one it is (which he can't do via frienditto, and on the lj site he still can't see my flocked entries, would then, after he had found out that I'm Oceana, head over to frienditto and manage to find the one interesting flocked post I ever made that just happens to be archived over there?
Not very high I'd say.

But even if I don't feel threatened personally, I can understand that this can become uncomfortable for many people. It's the principle of the thing: you could argue that a flocked entry which is shared with hundreds of people isn't really a private matter anymore, but it is.
LJ is still a journal, and thus is falls under the protections law has created for this kind of thing. Do you know how hard it to use a diary as evidence in a german court? We value this kind of privacy so high that our constitution protects it. And if the age we live in means that a diary is now something that is shared with the people we choose to share it with, it doesn't make it less of a diary.
It is still private.

That's why frienditto makes me so angry, because its only aim is to provide people with a means to destroy our privacy.

Sure, everyone can save friendslocked posts and put them on a website, making them available for everyone. Fandomwank has done that on countless occasions. But it's still different if you give people a toy that is meant to do exactly that.

That said, here's the rule: if you use frienditto, you are gone. Unfriended, banned, not before I personally out you to everyone else and make your life a living hell.

But I really hope that none of you is going to do that anyway, so let's foget about this whole thing now, shall we?
