I wrote fic.
No, seriously. I blame my boring work, and the crackheads at NCIS slash.
Yes, it's a parody, what did you think, that I was going to write serious fic? NO, I leave that to the good writers.
"Gibbs's Lips"
a NCIS fic by Oceana, inspired by recent conversations on the NCIS slash list.
Yes, they do belong to me, I make a lot of money out of my bestselling fic. *rolls eyes*
Do I need to mention that this is unbetaed?
Gibbs's mouth hurt. There was something wrong with his lips, they kept moving without his permission. It was starting to annoy him.
Gibbs liked to be in control, and the fact that his lips had gotten a life of their own was deeply unsettling to him. He hadn't quite figured out what caused them to do so, but they had been doing it for quite a while now. Gibbs realized that his own lips had become an enigma to him.
He knew of course that body parts didn't suddenly become independent. Still, he couldn't explain why they kept doing it. He had planned to observe them secretly to find out the cause for their behaviour, but he usually was too busy during work, and was only reminded when he came home with that strange feeling in his mouth and his cheeks.
There, there it was again. He entered the office, about to take a sip from his coffee. Kate and Tony were at Kate's disk, heads together in front of the computer, and then Tony looked up smiling, and said "Good morning, boss. I think we have something on Lt. Barber.", and Gibbs lips moved.
Gibbs took another sip of coffee before he forced a grumpy "About time." through his uncooperating lips and turned to his desk.
"Tony!" he heard Kate yell. "Did you just?! I can't believe…Give me that!" and Gibbs lips curled upwards some more.
Time for more coffee, he thought, and took another sip.
He got a call soon after. Lt. Barber, the suspect in the computer fraud case they had been investigating for two weeks had been found and – after what must have been a rather spectacular chase through the city – had barricaded himself in an old warehouse.
His team moved out and found the warehouse surrounded by Police. The suspect had taken a hostage, a young Petty Officer who was unlucky enough to cross ways with Lt. Barber when the tried to escape the police. The police had already begun negotiations, there were EMTs ready to help should it come to that, and the situation wasn't looking too good.
He decided to send Kate around the back to check out the situation on the inside. She was a skilled profiler and therefore qualified as a negotiator, should they be discovered by Lt. Barber. DiNozzo went with her for back-up.
Gibbs lips behaved.
The waiting was unnerving, if relaxing for his mouth, which was currently in its usual state – a straight line, lips pressed together, just they way he wanted them to.
Then everything happened very fast – there was a shot, a scream and a bursting window with two people falling out. He could vaguely make out the NCIS letters on the jacket sailing through the air, and his lips moved to open his mouth. He suspected that his voice would disobey him as well, but prevented it by drawing his gun and ordering his legs to move, and then he was there, his gun pointing to Lt. Barber, who was lying on his back with a slightly scratched but otherwise healthy Tony on top.
His lips closed his mouth and moved upwards again.
"You alright?" he asked to distract them, but they immediately went back to their upward position.
"I think I threw my back out." Tony said.
Kate's head appeared in the window with Petty Officer Siler.
This time he was sure that the upward curling from his lips was caused by the upward movement of his head and therefore excusable.
"Situation under control." He called up to her, and his eyes caught a lovely view of Tony's backside when he looked down again.
Something else twitched, but he was used to disobedience by that body part.
They got Lt. Barber into the police car, the EMTs took a look at Tony's cuts, decided he was alright and gave him a bandage to stop the bleeding, and Gibbs got his team back into the car.
"Kate, next time it's you who's going to jump out of the closed windows." Tony said on the seat next to him, pressing the bandage to the cut on his forehead.
"Don't pretend you didn't just do that little stunt to impress Petty Officer Siler," Kate contered from the backseat.
Gibbs still hadn't managed to move his lips back into their default position, and he started to feel slightly silly about that when he caught himself in the rearview mirror.
Was that a smile?
He turned and looked at Tony with his hand pressed to his forehead, eyes bright and shining while he was bantering with Kate. Gibbs moved his lips upward some more, and this time they obeyed without hesitation.
He was smiling.
I'm really sorry about that, but I needed something to amuse myself with. *g*
