Pimping Post I: Communities

This is hopefully the first in a series of posts that could all be titled "Things I meant to post in 2007, but didn't". This one's subject is

Communities I enjoyed in 2007

Let's start with [livejournal.com profile] daily_puppy, because it definitely was one of my favourite picture communities of the year. PUPPIES! Every day! Yes, sometimes the comments of the owners make me want to throw things at them, but there is no way a flist cannot be made a better place by adding a puppy a day. Also, in contrast to [livejournal.com profile] bentolunch (I blame [livejournal.com profile] raqs), [livejournal.com profile] daily_puppy is manageable, since there is only ONE puppy per day, compared to countless bento lunches. I love [livejournal.com profile] bentolunch, but I had to create a special filter for it which I only look at once a week or so. As much as I like looking at other people's bentos, I don't want them appearing between JD slash and Jensen ackles pictures, and whatever else my flist was posting last year.

Not quite as manageable as [livejournal.com profile] daily_puppy but nonetheless on my regular flist is [livejournal.com profile] in_my_purse. This is where people post pictures of their purse and its contents. In other words, Purse!Porn. Of course, Purse!Porn goes much better with the usual themes on my flist. Speaking of porn, this list would not be complete without [livejournal.com profile] j2_daily. Which needs no further introduction, me thinks.

On the less sexual entertainment front, there is of course [livejournal.com profile] peanutsdaily and the provoking, often cruel and always intelligent [livejournal.com profile] softerworldfeed. And [livejournal.com profile] ng_photo, stunning pictures that didn't make it into National Geographic articles, because apparently they have a limit on how many stunning pictures they can post. Which is why they post the rest on LJ.

And then there is a German community that I love: [livejournal.com profile] kochkinder, a cooking community with friendly people, good recipes and researches. Most of the English speaking cooking communities were too busy for me, so [livejournal.com profile] kochkinder is perfect.

Miss the fannish communities? There are so many I watch and enjoy that I don't even want to try to describe which ones I liked why. Just a few will get a special mention:

First of all, [livejournal.com profile] sg1_debrief, which I could not live without and which is definitely the best of all the fandom newsletters I subscribe to. A HUGE thank you to the editors which do an incredible job of collecting, editing and posting EVERYTHING that goes on in LJ SG fandom, thus making every second Thursday a Stargate party. I love it even more for being SG-1 only, because as much as I like SGA, they are two DIFFERENT fandoms and two different shows, and when I'm loooking for the one I'm not looking for the other (and I'm looking for The One a lot more often than for the other, as indicated by the totally intentional wording used in this sentence.)

Other honorary mentions: [livejournal.com profile] sg1_five_things, which isn't as popular as it used to be, but still fun to read (and one of these days I will become inspired, right?), [livejournal.com profile] sg_one_a_days, with one SG picture every day to remind us of ten wonderful years and last, and least, [livejournal.com profile] unit_command , where nothing (much) happens, but it's The Unit, which was incredible this season and last season, and it's the only Unit community with any kind of activity at all.

I hope you enjoy one or more of these communities as much as I did. And feel free to pimp in return...communities, feeds, lj users, whatever rocks your boat.
