This is just to inform you that Bring on the Night was nominated in the Best Romance category of the NCIS Awards.

I was going to tell you weeks ago, when I got the mail from the moderators, but, having never been nominated in awards before, I didn't know what the etiquette was about telling people before the nominations were official.

I'm not going to win, but the nomination filled me with squeee and totally made me want to go and write more NCIS fic, because I still love Tony and Gibbs very much. (only, there's real life, and the horse, and the inappropriate falling in love with a french guy, so I really don't have time to write.)
Because there's entirely too much discussion going on, here's the WIP meme thing.
When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.

(I have folders. They are called "Finished Fics", "Fics that will never be written. I think.", "Variations of the one fic that will definitely never be written." "Ideas that will never turn into fic. I think". and "WRITE THIS!".

NCIS and *hides* Stargate. *hides* )
...and kept me awake way too long.

I have committed porn.

Of the Gibbs/DiNozzo variety (surprise!) for [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis Porn Battle. Because it looked like no one else was going to play with the guys.

This will probably seem like a really bad idea in the morning...

Everyone is doing the 2006 in fiction Review thingy, and you all seem to have written mindboggling amounts of fic. I have no idea how you to it.

I have written exactly one ficlet, Learning To Play, Magnificent 7, Vin/Ezra. M7 is/was a completely new fandom to me, and the ficlet popped into my head quasi out of nowhere, asking to be written. I'm quite content with it, but it is more of a study, one scene to see what happens, if I can write them at all. I'd love to write a real fic for M7 (horses!), but my original plan to read lot of fanfic and rewatch the episodes to get a better feel for the characters didn't work out yet.

In NCIS, I polished up a silly little thing I once wrote for [livejournal.com profile] blueraccoon and hadn't posted in my lj yet, so I guess that almost counts as written in 2006. It's "How Stupid Mr Bates" and, as it was supposed to make the recipient feel better, it's really quite silly and happy, very much unlike the rest of my Gibbs/Tony, who still, no matter what I do, turn out to be all angsty and dramatic in my head, hurting each other in their inability to commit to their own feelings.

That's why the other little NCIS thing I wrote, "Fall-Out", a 100 word drabble, isn't happy at all, but I think it turned out to be at least a bit sexy. I actually like it a lot. I think 100-words drabbles are one of the hardest things to do, and I hardly ever give them a try, and I think this one turned out quite nicely.

So, that makes under 1500 words this year. Now you know what I mean when I say that I'm not a writer. Though, to be fair, maybe this just wasn't a writing year. January started with exams, then the move to Canada, where I didn't have much time for myself. More exams, and finally, freedom. Now, why didn't I write in the last months, when I had nothing to do at all?
I don't know. Maybe I'm one of those witers who have to be uhappy or stressed to find inspiration. I tend to get a lot more done when I have a lot to do, but get very unproductive when I have no obligations at all. Which means that this year, when I have a real job for the first time in my life, could become a really good writing year. Unless I have so little time that all the stories have to stay in my head. We'll see.

That said, I have a bunny for a Gibbs/DiNozzo fic right here, in said brain, and I even wrote the outline down on paper already. There's hope yet. ;-)

And while we are talking about writing:
The advantages/disadvantages of using present tense in fanfiction. Discuss!
Looking through my fic folders, I found something that I think is postable, though not perfect, and thought I'd share. It's a harm- and titleless h/c NCIS ficlet without plot that I wrote more than a year ago for [livejournal.com profile] blueraccoon and then never posted it on my own LJ. I gave it a title (don't ask), polished it up a little bit and hope some you'll enjoy it.
Also, as short as it is, please don't hesitate to let me know if something is wrong or sounds really weird.

How Stupid Mr Bates )
OMG I wrote something!
Granted, it's only 100 words, but we are making progress. Not so much with the studying, though...

I don't know if this makes sense to anyone but me, but I thought I'd post it quickly, before I change my mind. Here we go..

By Oceana
100 words (at least that's what word says), set after Hiatus 2, spoilery in context
Written for the [livejournal.com profile] ncisdrabble100 "Aftermath" challenge

Fall-Out )
I did manage to write something for the ficathon. And I'm afraid I used my quote in exactly the way I threatened to use it at the very beginning.

NCIS Fic: 'The Bed's Too Big Without You' by Oceana )

You can find the Masterlist of the first ever NCIS Ficathon here.

*smooches [livejournal.com profile] blueraccoon for organizing it*

My little fandom, all grown up. ;-)
Okay, here it is. Inspired by the [livejournal.com profile] sixtysecondporn Hot Flash challenge "Fingers". With more than 2500 words, it's not very flashy, sorry. You should be grateful that I got them to touch each other for once.

Feedback and constructive criticism are more than welcome. And please feel free to point out any mistakes you find.

NCIS Fic: 'Bring on the Night' by Oceana )
Apparently, there is this community called [livejournal.com profile] sixtysecondporn. Apparently I joined. Apparently by joining I promised to post something eventually.

"But I don't do porn!" I said!

Then I wrote this little drabble, and hey, I managed to use the word "cock". There's hope for me yet!

At least I used it in one of the versions. Not in this one, though. *g*

The challenge was "Hands", and, uhm, I'm not so sure if there were any other rules.

Author: Oceana
Pairing: Gibbs/DiNozzo
Warning: 100 words. How much of a warning do you need for that?

Gibbs’s hand is surprisingly tender when it closes around him for the first time. It shouldn’t be, he thinks, not with him pressed up against the wall, Gibbs’s other hand holding Tony’s neck, strong, sure, leaving no doubt that this is where Tony belongs.

“Is this what you wanted?” Gibbs whispers into his ear.

He wants to thrust into this hand, wants to feel the strength of these fingers.

“Harder.” he pants. “You won’t break me.”

“Maybe I won’t.” Gibbs says. “But I could.”

Gibbs’s touch is barely stronger than a breath, but it is enough to make him come.
Somehow, I seem to have written another NCIS fic. It's porn, or as porny as you can get without ever using the word penis or any of it synonyms. I'm not good at dirty talk. And it's also, hmm, fluffy, I believe is the word I'm looking for. As fluffy as Tony and Gibbs get, at least.

I have no idea if this works. The scene I see in my head is hot, but I'm not sure if I managed to transfer the hotness into words. I'd be very grateful for feedback and constructive criticism. But on to the fic:

NCIS Fic "Rehumanize Yourself" by Oceana )
Apparently I wrote fic.

No, I don't know how this happened either. I am too impatient to find a beta, so please don't hesitate to correct mistakes. Also, I'm actually thinking about posting this to the crackhead list, so I'd be grateful for honest criticism before I embarass myself in public.

But on to the fic:

"Once Upon A Daydream" by Oceana )
I was reading Numb3rs fic when this drabble popped into my head from out of nowhere. I guess it's Tony's and Gibbs's way of complaining about the wrongness of me reading Numb3rs slash.

Obviously I never write drabbles, but Word says that it's 100 words, so at least it has the right length and it won't waste much of your time.

I wrote fic.
No, seriously. I blame my boring work, and the crackheads at NCIS slash.
Yes, it's a parody, what did you think, that I was going to write serious fic? NO, I leave that to the good writers.

I'm not even sure that it is funny, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. )

I'm really sorry about that, but I needed something to amuse myself with. *g*
